“I know where I want to work. There’s a huge sense of relief in just having an arrow pointing in the right direction.”
I was going through an identity crisis and wasn’t happy with my isolating job, feeling like I needed to contribute more financially to my family and plan for the future. We had just gotten married, moved, bought a house, and were thinking of when and how we might adopt children, so it was a time of change and life decisions, and I needed to feel grounded in myself before I could tackle any more big questions.
I found Laura through a random Internet search for “actor career change” and decided she was the one to help me because we shared a background of being trained actors. She also did an incredible job of listening and feeding back what she was hearing on our first call together. I felt like she got it and understood me, maybe more than I understood myself at that time.
Through the work I did in Your Career Homecoming, I’ve embraced how acting can fit into my life while taking the financial burden off of my artistic endeavors so I can release the resentment that’s been building over time.
Now, I know where I want to work. There’s a huge sense of relief in just having an arrow pointing in the right direction. I feel a sense of ease and purpose that I was lacking before. I know why this work makes sense for me, and I feel well-equipped to roll with the punches.
